In pursuit of the LLT Lab’s mission to increase access to justice for pro se litigants or for those represented by pro bono attorneys or public service law offices, we are collaborating with colleagues both within and outside the law school. To date we have developed document templates using HotDocs(TM) Developer software, and have developed online guided interviews using the A2J5 Author(R) software created by the Illinois Institute of Technology – Chicago Kent College of Law and the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction (CALI). We are also exploring the use of additional software programs. Our goal is to make document assembly “smarter” by enabling the use of information gathered automatically, such as through automated argument mining in legal texts.
